Wow! This year has been flying by. I haven't had a ton of time to dedicate to this blog and we have some more changes happening in our family coming up. So sadly, I am going to shut this blog down. I hope some of the things on this blog have been helpful. Maybe at some point in the future when my life is a little more conducive to doing a blog I can try to start it back up and really dedicate some time and make it good. I found a location for raw milk in Queen Creek. Read up on the benefits of raw milk. Its sad that the milk in most grocery stores have little or no nutritional value. Honestly I have mixed feeling about raw milk. I love milk, the milk at the grocery store. I don't know how I will like raw milk. I don't know if this will stick for our household but I do think its so much healthier than grocery store milk. If anything we can eliminate milk. Learning to Spell

Here is a great way to have your kids learn how to spell their name. I just got on Microsoft word and typed in each letter for their name. I selected a letter type I liked and printed out two copies of every letter. Use one set to glue to the file folder and cut and laminate the other. My younger son isn't old enough for this but I did his as well now so that when he can, he will be able to use this one too. * I wish I would have left a bigger gap between the first and last name an then used velcro underneath each letter to match them up. That way they can see the top letter and the letter they use to match at the same time.

No added steroids or hormones. Here is the information from their website for the ground beef. *No chemicals, additives or water added to meat during processing *100% raised in the USA *Highest in food safety standards *No antibiotics or steroids The only thing I wish is that it was grass-fed cattle. It does say they hope to offer grass-fed soon. Still it is way better than what is in the store. The no antibiotics or steroids is huge. In the book "Real Food" by Nina Planck she has an entire chapter dedicated to real meat. In the chapter she addresses the over-use of antibiotics and steroids. A quote about steroids states, "Excess estrogen is linked to reproductive cancers including breast, prostate, and testicular cancer, and since 1950, such cancers have risen sharply." She goes on to say that breast cancer is up 55%, testicular 120%, and prostate 230%. This book is a great book. I highly recommend it. You can get it on amazon.com. I am excited about this chance to get some healthier beef for my family. I have two growing boys that will probably gobble it up. ;)

I think its a wonderful idea to incorporate in any family. Building relationships with your family is one of the most important things we can do.

Everyone seems to be really interested in the file folder games I posted a week or so ago. I am so glad you have all enjoyed them as much as I have. Here are a few more ideas. I love he animal match. Great for pre-K kids learning their animals. My little boy loves cars so he loves playing the number cars match. There is also another color match one on here. I love having a variety of each skill. Fun File Folder Games

My 2 1/2 year old loves file folder games. He is always begging to play a "game." They have also been a really great and cheap learning tool. Right now he is learning his colors and shapes. They are really simple but work great. I just buy contact paper to laminate them in. You can find this in the housewares section at wal-mart. I print out the pieces on card stock which is a little more heavy duty for kids. They also have carrying cases at places like Wal-mart & Target for stuff like this. I love the cases because they work great for taking some to church. Thanks to mormonchic.com for these great ideas! Grapefruit Seed Extract

I am a little new to the world of grapefruit seed extract (GSE) but so far I love it. In mid February I started getting a sore throat and we were getting ready to go out of town. I didn't want to be sick on the trip, who does? So I added some GSE to a glass of water and gargled with it and swallowed what I could at the end. That did the trick! The sore throat was gone. We also used it on a cold sore my husband was getting the other day. Its gone! So far I am a huge fan of this stuff. You can use it for anything. Such a great thing to have in your home. Essential Oils

I am so excited for the "breathe" mixture of essential oils I ordered today. I usually use my Eucalyptus oil which I love too but this mixture will be even better for the respiratory stuff my kids have been getting the past few months. Getting healthy is on our list for 2011. We were sick so many times in 2010 and its just rediculous and shouldnt be that way. So of course this means I have been searching for good deals on healthy products. Just a few things I have found so far:

1. - If you have bountiful baskets in your area it is a great deal and healthier than whats in the store. The bread baskets are also better and about the same price you would pay in the store.

2. - If you are interested in essential oils (I absolutely LOVE mine) there are so many things you can do with them. They are great to use for cleaning by adding a few drops to water. And so much healthier! There are also other things you can use for cleaning like vinegar and water. So much cheaper than buying cleaner and so much healtier.

3. - If you do swagbucks you can redeem for a $5.00 gift card to Amazon. Save your gift cards to buy some of the healthy things you want for your family. They occasionally have great deals on different healthy items.

4. - I love this blog. http://enlightenedhomemaker.blogspot.com/ . She has most of the information you will need to get started. Thanks so much to my sis-in-law to referring me to this site. This lady is amazing. She even makes her own cheese! She has been healing her son of Autism through natural remedies. Just amazing. There is a lot of information here so just take is slow by making a few changes at a time otherwise it can be overwhelming.

Reasons to Coupon Shop?

I have heard lots of different reasons why people don't want to use coupons. I know you are busy but let me tell you why you need to use coupons. Especially if your family is struggling like many other families. I tallied what I saved just with coupons. This does not include store savings. This is just strictly from coupons I clipped and took with me to the store. The tally from the 16th of Oct to 16th of Nov was $245.49 (I even forgot to add a few trips on here). Now that should be reason enough right? Well add in store savings by shopping sales along with coupon shopping and the savings are over $600.00. Now add in money you save buy clipping restaurant coupons like Olive Garden, Costa Vida, Panda, etc.... its even more. Plus, if you get giftcards or money by swagbucks, inbox dollars, myPoints, and surveys. You are making even more.

So...... this past month I easily saved/earned over $300.00 using my coupons and my other income avenues like swagbucks. Times 300 by 12 and thats $3,600 a year. Well if thats not reason enough I am not sure what is. If you dont know how to do this ask!!! You cant afford to spend $3,600 a year that you shouldnt be spending. Food storage option!

My mom introduced me to eFoods Global. I cant even tell you how excited I am about this product. I have been working for years to try and figure out how to get my food storage and keep it rotated. I finally found my answer! This food storage lasts for years and its dehydrated food. Yummy dehydrated food. Its also healthy and lost of it is gluten free. All you mostly have to do it add water and you have your meal. This is the easiest and cheapest option for our family right now. It comes out to a dollar per serving. Some families are saying they eat this a couple nights a week so it has also cut back on their grocery bill. For me the main thing is that it can be rotated EASILY because its something we will actually eat.

So here is what I am doing. I am cutting back on my grocery bill by only buying three meals at the grocery store instead of five. The money I am not spending at the grocery store is going into my food storage money. This will grow my food storage and also fill in the two extra meals a week for our family. I am buying portions each month so I am hoping in a year to have my full year supply of food. Its a precious commodity these days!

If you haven't seen these books they are great! We bought one last year for a fund raiser and we loved it. I easily used more in coupons than I spent for the book. One other idea for getting formula cheaper is buying it off craigslist. Since there was a recent recall on the larger cans of similac formula I would buy the smaller cans just to make sure you aren't getting formula that should be recalled. Sometimes I get my formula for half price off craigslist. Make sure the can is un-opened and check the expiration date.

Good Grabs Fry's-There are a few good freebies at Fry's including dish soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. Plus ground beef is on sale as well. I also saw honey bunches of oat cereal on sale for a 1.99. And some Capn'crunch was on sale for a 1.75 and we should have a coupon for this one.

Good Grabs Albies- There is a good sale on cereal and fruit snack again at Albies. Its GM cereal and we have coupons for both the cereal and fruit snacks. And catalinas will probably print if you buy 3 or more boxes of GM cereal. Roast and chicken is also on sale here this week.

Good Grabs Safeway- Steak and pork chops are on sale. Also BC fruit snacks are a really good deal here. $.50.

Good Grabs Bashas- Pumpkins for a 1.50 only on Tuesday! Ground beef, milk, deli meat, apple juice, soup, and totinos pizza are a few good things to grab here. Also, they have yeast on sale which is a must grab if you need some. I dont usually see sales on yeast so maybe get a few to stock up if they wont expire before you use them.

I ran to target to get some wipes. They ended up being on sale for $5.49 which is decent plus having the 2.50 off coupon online. So that makes them 2.90. Pretty good deal.

Also if you have a reach coupon you can get reach floss for free. Its .97 plus there is $1/1 coupon you can get online. I also got the instant oatmeal for like .29. There is a 2.00 printable coupon available.

On my way out I saw the giftbags were on a big sale. So I ended up picking up a couple giftbags, nice ones, originally three dollars for $.68.

Great Catalina that printed for me was 3.00 back from General Mills for buying 5 or more boxes of cereal. I bought six boxes. I spent a little less than a dollar per item this trip. I got 5lbs of meat, diapers, cereal, gum, cookie mix, and rasberries. Normally I wouldnt even buy gum or cookie mix but they were really cheap or free. So get yourself motivated to get some of these great deals this week at Albies. You should have coupons for almost all of these items.

I got Gerber snacks for my 8 mo old, 2 cans of baby formula, and about 15 cans of baby food. I also bought 2- 12 packs of cottonelle toilet paper. Sooo.. I am in love with yard sales. I cant even tell you all the amazing deals I got on things in the past two days. And its all because of my great friend that got me into this. We are talking 32 pieces of clothing for around $8.00. That's .25 cents each. I got great brand new clothes with the tags still on. I also found brand new winter hats and scarfs for my boys which were brand new as well. This really could be a great way for you to save money on clothes and tons of other things like toys. And like I said I got clothes that still had the tags on so they are brand new. You cannot get those deals in the store. I got my oldest boy a semi-truck that holds the smaller cars for .50 cents. Living Healthier

We have been trying to vamp up our immune systems at our house. My son got really sick this year for a month and then my husband got sick for three weeks. We are sick of being sick! So we decided to be a little healthier. We are implementing little changes here and there. I am compiling healthy recipes so I will send those out to whoever wants them. Anyways here is one health tip for today: Substitute the oil you use for Pure Olive Oil. Its much healthier and it tastes better too!

If you are really wanting to get into heavy coupons and shopping deals, I would suggest creating an email account just for coupons. I use my coupon email address for anything I do that has to do with saving money. It really helps lessen tons of emails going to your personal account and helps to keep it better organized. Also, please feel free to leave a comment if you find a good deal that I haven't posted. I will do my best to re post those deals so everyone can benefit. :)

One other suggestion; get yourself a binder or something that you can keep track of your savings. Excel spreadsheets work great too. This really helps to keep the motivation to continue bargain shopping. You will be surprised at how much a dollar here and a dollar there adds up! Its fun to see the monthy, quarterly, and yearly savings! You will never want to go back to paying full price again. Prepare to get addicted to savings!

Every month I get a handful of coupons that I don't need or use. These usually consist of animal snacks, animal food, hair dye products, and other coupons. I get three copies of the Sunday newspaper and sometimes I know I will only use one coupon. If you are interested in these coupons please let me know and I will save them up for you.

Also remember to save food coupons you recieve as well. I save all mine in a large zip lock bag and sometimes even leave them in my car. We have KFC coupons, Subway, Olive Garden, Chili's, and etc..
